Product Description
The Matala UVC 40w for immersion UVC is a simple non permanent solution for on the go ultraviolet filtration. Available in both 40 watt and 75 watt applications, this mobile unit allows for ultra violet filtration wherever it is needed by immersion into the water body. This will effectively destroy bacteria and reduce disease outbreak potential drastically and would be a great water treatment. It is important to note not to use in direct contact with your fish or any biologicals that you want to be kept alive such as the biofilter and its associated bacteria. The 36 inch ( 91.44 cm ) unit must be submerged to prevent burnouts and the transformer must be kept dry. This UV-C is suitable for both fresh and salt walter applications.
Operation
The UV-C plunger generates UV-C radiation at a wavelength of 253.7 mm through the PHILLIP T5 UV lamp, which destroys bacteria (incl. the Legionella bacteria). The UV-C plunger ensures clean, fresh and clear pond water in an efficient and environmentally-friendly manner. The UV-C radiation neutralizes bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms, and prevents them from reproducing. The UV-C plunger has an electronic ballast to ensure a constant power supply. Always use protective goggles and wear latex gloves when putting the UV-C plunger into operation. It is also recommended that you carefully read through the safety regulations.
The UV-C plunger is a mobile unit that can be used for various purposes, such as:

- Water-butts / water storage tanks (drawing 1)
- Filter systems / relief boxes
- Swimming pool filters / swimming ponds (not in direct contact with human!)
